Program Overview
Train to operate safely and effectively on the fireground. This accelerated program builds core competencies—PPE and SCBA, ladders, hose, search, ventilation, rescue, and fire behavior—along with modern safety practices.
What You’ll Learn
- Firefighter safety, PPE, and SCBA
- Building construction and fire behavior
- Hose lines, nozzles, water supply, and hydrants
- Ground ladders, search, and rescue techniques
- Ventilation, salvage, and overhaul
- Communications, ICS basics, and report writing
Outcomes
- Preparation for the Firefighter I certification testing process in Ohio
- Entry‑level readiness for paid‑on‑call, part‑time, and full‑time department opportunities
Admissions & Requirements
- Government‑issued photo ID
- Medical clearance for strenuous activity and respiratory protection
- Ability to meet department/site requirements (background check, drug screen)
- Attendance and participation in all drills and live‑fire evolutions
- PPE and turnout gear details provided after enrollment
- TABE pre-entrance exam required
