Nitrous Oxide Sedation Monitoring
The Ohio State Dental Board has approved Dental Assistants to monitor and Dental Hygienists to administer nitrous oxide sedation. In accordance with rule 4715-11.02.2, assistants must have at least two years of 3,000 hours or experience in dental assisting and be certified in CPR (enclose a copy of the card with the registration fee).
In accordance with rule 4715-11.01.2, hygienists must hold a current hygiene license and be certified in CPR (enclose a copy of the card with the registration fee). Hygienists will be required to complete additional clinical experience with this course. Participants will receive a certificate in nitrous oxide monitoring or administering as mandated by the Ohio State Dental Board. Applicants will be required to complete an examination on the day of the course successfully.
